Clear Drain is a trading name of Midlands Simit Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13585858, registered office 32 Pool Hall Crescent, Wolverhampton, WV3 8LA.

We are the data controller for the information described below.
What we collect, and why
When you contact us — by phone, by email or through a form on this site — we collect your name, contact details, the address of the site in question and whatever you tell us about the problem. We use it to answer your enquiry, quote for the work, carry it out and invoice for it. The lawful basis is that it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and then to perform that contract.
When we carry out a survey we produce a report, a site plan, photographs and video of the drainage. These are held as a record of the work. If we later publish anything from a survey as a case study, it is anonymised first: town and postcode district only, no address, no name.
When you use this site we collect limited technical information through analytics and advertising cookies, but only if you accept them. If you decline, none are set and nothing is sent to any of the companies below. See the cookie settings link in the footer, which you can use to change your mind at any time.
If you accept, these are the only third parties involved:
- Google Analytics · which pages are visited, and whether someone rang us or sent the form. Google Ireland Limited.
- Google Ads · whether an advert led to an enquiry. Google Ireland Limited.
- Meta · the Facebook and Instagram advertising pixel, for the same purpose. Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.
- Microsoft Advertising · the same again for adverts on Bing. Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited.
We record two things as a conversion: tapping the phone number, and completing the contact form. We do not record what you typed into the form as part of that — only that it was sent.
We do not buy contact data, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it.
Who we share it with
Nobody, other than:
- our accountants and, where relevant, our insurers;
- anyone you ask us to send a report to, such as your solicitor, surveyor or insurer;
- Severn Trent, where the drainage turns out to be theirs and we are passing the matter to them on your behalf;
- where the law requires it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to marketing companies.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within twelve months. That is long enough for someone who rang round for quotes to come back to us, and there is no reason to keep it after that.
Records of work carried out — reports, plans, video and invoices — are kept for seven years. Company records have to be kept for six years from the end of the accounting period they fall in, and a drain survey can be asked for years later if a property changes hands or a dispute arises, so seven years covers both without us having to judge each file separately.
Anything you send us through the form or by email sits in our mailbox and is covered by the same periods.
We use analytics and advertising cookies only if you accept them, and that data is deleted after fourteen months. The advertising platforms above keep their own records to their own schedules, which we do not control. Our hosting provider keeps its own server logs for a short period as part of running the service; that is their retention, not ours.
If you would like us to delete something sooner, ask and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to how we are using it. Email enquiries@cleardrain.co and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s supervisory authority for data protection.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
