What we surveyed
A CCTV inspection at a residential property in Wolverhampton (WV10), covering 2 separate runs of pipework, 100 and 150 mm bore, foul and surface water.
The system is vitrified clay and polyethylene.
Vitrified clay is what most pre-1970s drainage in the Midlands is built from. It is durable but brittle, and its short pipe lengths mean many joints – which is where almost everything goes wrong.
What the camera found
Nothing structurally wrong. The survey recorded 14 observations across the system – junctions, node types, water levels and changes of material – and no defects.
That is a useful result rather than a dull one. For anyone buying the property, a clean survey removes drainage from the list of things to negotiate over or worry about, and the recording is there to prove it.
