What we surveyed
A CCTV inspection at a residential property in Wolverhampton (WV10), covering 2 separate runs of pipework, 100 and 150 mm bore, foul and surface water.
The system is vitrified clay and polyethylene.
Vitrified clay is what most pre-1970s drainage in the Midlands is built from. It is durable but brittle, and its short pipe lengths mean many joints, which is where almost everything goes wrong.
What the camera found
Nothing structurally wrong. The survey recorded 14 observations across the system (junctions, node types, water levels and changes of material) and no defects.
That is a useful result rather than a dull one. For anyone buying the property, a clean survey removes drainage from the list of things to negotiate over or worry about, and the recording is there to prove it.
